Would Letting Seeds Sprout On A Damp Paper Towel Work?
I am doing an experiment with 5 different types of seeds found in my parakeets' seed-based diet. I want to see which seed species will grow and grow the fastest. Would placing 4 of each seed species on a damp paper towel, than covering the seeds with another damp paper towel allow the seeds to sprout? I'll need to watch their progress.
I will later move the sprouting seeds to potting soil.
Answer:
Yes that is a good way to germinate seeds. Put them in damp paper towels and then seal them in a zip lock plastic bag to hold in the moisture. Open the bag and check them every day to see their progress.
Put them somewher where it is warm like the top of the fridge. The warmer they are the faster they will germinate.
