I've seen induction kits they look like coned air filters.... is an induction kit a seperate add on onto an existing standard air filter ... or is it a replacment for the actual air filter on your car?

depends on which car you have if you have a na car ie non turbo go for a panel filter and an air feed pipe into the original box.
Most people will say go for an induction kit but again not on a na car.
